Serendib Graphite — Core Revenue Operation

Natural Vein Graphite
Supply

Serendib Graphite produces and supplies natural vein graphite from Sri Lanka's Central Province. Material is processed into lump, flake, and powder forms with carbon content ranging from approximately 90% to 99% depending on grade.

Material Advantage

Why Sri Lankan Vein Graphite

Sri Lanka is the only country with commercially significant vein graphite deposits. This geological distinction produces material of consistently higher natural purity than flake graphite sources found elsewhere.

Purity
90–99% Natural Carbon

Achieves high carbon content without extensive chemical purification, reducing processing cost and environmental impact relative to synthetic or flake sources.

Crystallinity
Superior Crystal Structure

The hydrothermal vein formation process produces highly ordered graphitic crystallinity with superior lubricity, electrical conductivity, and thermal performance.

Classification
Critical Raw Material

Natural graphite is designated a critical raw material by the EU, USA, and Japan due to its strategic importance in lithium-ion batteries, energy storage, and refractories.

Commercial Product Range

Available Grades

All three grades are produced from the same high-purity vein graphite source and are available for sample and supply enquiries.

01
Graphite Lumps
Premium Lump Grade

Large naturally-formed nodules extracted directly from the vein and minimally processed to preserve crystalline integrity. Highest natural purity available from Sri Lanka, commanding a market premium for rarity and ultra-high carbon content.

02
Graphite Flakes
Flake Grade

Produced by mechanically processing vein graphite into thin, plate-like particles with defined size distribution. High surface area and layered structure make flakes the preferred form for battery anode applications and as a precursor for graphene oxide production.

Serendib Graphene — Development Initiative

Graphene
Development Pipeline

Serendib Graphene represents the Group's downstream development initiative focused on graphene oxide (GO) and reduced graphene oxide (rGO). The platform is currently in the development phase, with pilot-scale capabilities under evaluation.

⚠ Development Stage — Not Yet Commercially Available
Strategic Rationale

Why Graphene

The strategic objective is to convert internally sourced graphite feedstock into higher-value advanced materials, enabling margin expansion over time as the graphene market moves from laboratory scale to commercial deployment.

The Group's upstream graphite operations provide a cost-competitive, controlled feedstock base for graphene production — a structural advantage over standalone graphene producers dependent on third-party supply.

Initial focus is on graphene oxide and reduced graphene oxide as the most scalable and commercially proven graphene derivatives, addressing applications in energy storage, composites, and filtration.

Target Products

GO & rGO — Development Targets

The Company is targeting two primary graphene derivatives at pilot scale. Neither product is currently available for commercial supply.

Under Development
Graphene Oxide
GO
Produced by chemically oxidising graphite flakes, introducing oxygen-containing functional groups that make GO dispersible in water and polar solvents. GO's oxygen groups enable chemical bonding with polymer matrices, making it suitable for composite and membrane applications.
Status

Appearance
Brown/amber dispersion or powder
Conductivity
Low — insulating
Key Feature
Water-dispersible; functionalised surface
Target Applications
  • Water filtration membranes
  • Polymer composite reinforcement
  • Biomedical coatings
  • Anti-corrosion barrier coatings
Under Development
Reduced Graphene Oxide
rGO
Produced by reducing GO to remove oxygen functional groups and restore electrical conductivity. rGO is the most commercially scalable form of graphene, approaching the conductivity of pristine graphene at a fraction of the production cost — making it practical for large-scale industrial applications.
Status
Lab / pilot evaluation
Appearance
Black powder or dispersion
Conductivity
High — approaching pristine graphene
Key Feature
Scalable near-graphene performance
Target Applications
  • Supercapacitors and energy storage
  • Conductive inks and printed electronics
  • Lightweight structural composites
  • Thermal management materials
Development Roadmap

Indicative Timeline

The following milestones represent the Group's target development trajectory for the graphene platform. All timelines are indicative and subject to capital deployment and technical outcomes.

Now

Lab-Scale Evaluation

GO and rGO synthesis from proprietary graphite feedstock being evaluated at laboratory scale. Material characterisation in progress.

6–12 mo

Pilot Plant Development

Establish pilot-scale production capability. Optimise process parameters for consistent output quality.

12–24 mo

Qualification Samples

Supply qualification samples to target industrial customers. Initiate product certification processes.

24–36 mo

Commercial Rollout

Scale to commercial production volumes. Target initial supply agreements with qualified industrial partners.

Investor Note: The graphene initiative is a phased investment. Initial capital is directed to graphite monetisation. Graphene development is funded progressively as graphite revenues scale. This sequencing reduces execution risk and preserves capital efficiency.

Investor Relations

Investor Relations

Serendib Minerals is an ADGM-based holding company with controlling interests in graphite mining operations in Sri Lanka and a developing downstream graphene platform. The Group is focused on extraction, processing, and commercialisation of high-purity vein graphite, with a strategy to progressively expand into higher-margin advanced carbon materials.

Investment Thesis

Key Investment Highlights

Exposure to a Critical Raw Material

Natural graphite is designated a critical mineral across major economies, driven by demand from lithium-ion batteries, energy storage, and industrial refractories. Domestic supply chains in the EU, USA, and Japan are insufficient, creating sustained demand for high-quality imported material.

Access to High-Purity Vein Graphite

Sri Lanka hosts the world's only commercially significant vein graphite deposits, characterised by superior natural purity and crystallinity relative to flake graphite found elsewhere. The asset base is geologically scarce, making supply expansion by new entrants structurally constrained.

Early-Stage Vertical Integration Opportunity

The Company is developing downstream capabilities in graphene oxide (GO) and reduced graphene oxide (rGO), positioning for margin expansion beyond primary material sales. The graphene programme is capital-efficient, funded progressively from graphite revenues.

Scalable Platform with Defined Roadmap

Initial focus on graphite monetisation with phased capital deployment into processing and advanced materials manufacturing. The sequenced approach reduces execution risk: graphite generates near-term revenue while graphene development progresses in parallel.

Value Creation

The Margin Ladder

Each step up the value chain represents a meaningful increase in realised margin per tonne of graphite produced.
